Where C19400 is not the right choice

Jul.22.2026

Being clear about the limits usually saves more money than promoting the strengths:

  • Busbars and high-current conductors — if the design needs 90% IACS or better, use C11000 or C10200 instead.
  • High-force springs and long-cycle contacts — C17200 beryllium copper or C5191 phosphor bronze deliver higher elastic limits and better stress relaxation.
  • Continuous service above about 200°C — the dispersion structure is stable for short excursions, but sustained high temperature under load calls for a different alloy family.
  • Seawater and aggressive chloride environments — copper-nickel grades are the appropriate choice.
